 BIO

I married my High School sweetheart in May of 2002. She was my first love and has been my best friend ever since. We have 2 children and we are expecting our third on Thanksgiving of 2011. I am a former U.S. Marine, a Sheriff’s Deputy, and I served as a full time youth minister for five years. It was while serving as a youth minister that I developed my passion and calling to not only Pastor a church, but to start a new church. Although I sensed a call to plant a church, I knew it would be wise to seek more training and confirmation by joining a Church Planting Residency Program at The Point Community Church. It was in those two years at The Point that I developed my training, clarified the location, and was given the vision for the kind of church Redemption Hill would soon be. My family moved back to Indianapolis April 2010 and since then God has been faithful at planting a Gospel centered, missional church.

Hobbies and Interest:

Dating my wife is one of my favorite things to do. We both really enjoy trying new restaurants throughout our city. We really love BBQ and will travel far and wide to try new dives. We also enjoy making BBQ at home on our smoker. Before kids, I could frequently be found playing basketball at the park but now I am more commonly found playing on the playground with my kids. Being with my family and making memories together is a most favorite thing to do. I also enjoy running, and working out. I enjoy studying theology, church history and church planting while sitting at local coffee shops throughout the city.


Who is your favorite Christian author and why?

My favorite author to read is John Piper. When I was first beginning to study theology I came across John Piper’s preaching on the radio while driving to and from school in the morning. I immediately researched him on the internet, only to find that he had written numerous books. This was a great joy to me, so I first purchased his most popular book, Desiring God. This book along with many other books by John Piper, have shaped my doctrine and understanding of God’s God-centeredness, and his desire to give us joy. Outside of the Bible, his books have shaped my affections and desires to follow God in His mission to seek and save the lost.  

VISION

Indianapolis is a city with church buildings everywhere you look, but it is a largely -disproportional un-churched and de-churched population. Because of this our aim is to see Gospel communities of our church spring up in neighborhoods, condos, apartments, and dorms across the city of Indianapolis. Together we will love our neighbors, seek the welfare of our city, and the redemption of Indianapolis.
